A self-exam that just didn’t feel right brought me to the doctor. Because I was so young, it was my first mammogram. A mastectomy, reconstruction and a lot of physical therapy later, listening to my body had saved my life.

I am far stronger than I ever imagined I was.

Breast cancer is serious but there are many survivors out there and a sisterhood of support when you’re going through it. I had a great network that included group support, family, friends and co-workers.

For me, breast cancer was a blessing in disguise, teaching me to appreciate the important things in life. I was reminded that family and friends are irreplaceable, and should always be treasured. And I found out that I am far stronger than I ever imagined I was. I feel great, and for that, I know that I am blessed.
