I found that I had breast cancer during a self examination. I had found a strange lump on my right breast. I didn’t know much about breast cancer before being diagnosed. I had no history of breast cancer in my family, though my sister had throat cancer and my brother had non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. The treatment that I received was six sessions of chemotherapy, removal of my right breast, and I was on medication for five years. Support from my family and friends were the most important factors during my treatment and recovery. Also, the doctors were very supportive, and work was very understanding and helped with time off.

NEVER GIVE UP.

Through this experience I learned to be thankful for everything I have, and I am stronger than I ever realized. Today, I feel BLESSED!!! I am tired from medicine, tired of feeling tired and ready to move on. My ‘words of wisdom’ for other women facing this disease is NEVER GIVE UP. Surround yourself with the positive people in your life to uplift you and give you strength through the process.
