Soon after finding a lump in my breast in August of 2008, I had a mammogram and biopsy. When I found out I had cancer my surgeon, who is a breast cancer survivor, helped me select the best treatment. My husband, son and mom stayed positive and confident throughout my treatment. I am also grateful for the support I received from my family and at work.

Remember that every day we are closer to a cure.

Having cancer taught me to live every day as if there is no tomorrow. I just tried to stay positive and believe that I could get through this. Even though I am still in radiation therapy, I feel wonderful. I just keep looking forward to the day when all the therapy is complete and life returns to normal. Be strong, but don’t be afraid to ask family and friends for help—it can make all the difference. And remember that every day we are closer to a cure.
