I am a twelve-year breast cancer survivor. I found out on Valentine’s Day 1997 that I had breast cancer. I had three small children and every year I dreaded February 14th. When I reached my 5 year mark I decided to stop dreading the day and start celebrating life.
I was determined not to leave my three little girls without a mother. With the loving support of my family and friends, I am a "Survivor".
I learned I was a strong woman - stronger than I ever thought I could be. It's been twelve years and I feel great about that. I sometimes get mad because it happened to me, I can't lie, but I realize that I'm who I am today because of what I've been though in the past. Find a mantra and repeat it every day, several times a day. Mine is, "I am whole, perfect, strong, powerful, loving, harmonious and happy."
