I felt a lump while doing a self-exam in the shower one day, but I let it go. Shortly after, I noticed it had grown and I knew even before the doctor told me that I had cancer. My mom battled breast cancer 3 times, but I never saw her cry or break down – she never felt sorry for herself. My mom is my hero and especially after my mastectomy, the support from both of my parents meant everything to me.
I celebrate my recovery every day.
The #1 key to finding breast cancer is to do self-exams. Get your mammograms and be diligent about checking. DON’T WAIT. DON’T THINK IT WILL GO AWAY.
Throughout this experience I have learned how valuable family and friends are, and I celebrate my recovery every day with their love and laugher. To those of you who are battling breast cancer, be strong, hang in there, pray and remember that there is always hope!
