In April of 2003, I was diagnosed with stage three invasive breast cancer. I first had chemo treatments to shrink the large tumor so they could do a mastectomy of the left breast. Also, seventeen lymph nodes were removed, every one of them was positive. After surgery, I had four more chemo treatments. I was able to work during the first four treatments. After 36 radiation treatments to the chest and underarm, I went back to work. After working five weeks, I had a reoccurrence to the brain! I am now cancer free! My advice to women is not to ignore something unusual that occurs. Women also need to make sure they have their yearly check-ups, it is extremely important. The support of my family, friends, co-workers and community was overwhelming. Without them, I would not have been able to stay as strong as I did and still be as strong as I am today.
