My name is Lori Tauber Marcus. I have worked for PepsiCo for 21 years. I am a breast cancer survivor.

I have been very open about my situation both at work and in my local community, and I have been lucky that everyone has been so emotionally supportive.

What's helped me is trying to keep things as "normal" as possible…

What's helped me is trying to keep things as "normal" as possible -- working throughout my chemo regime and keeping up a daily exercise ritual even when I was feeling tired. The combination of a morning workout followed by a day at the office kept me strong and focused.

While I haven't taken advantage of any formal support groups, I HAVE reached out to other women in my local community who were diagnosed with Breast Cancer last year. We have tried to keep each other laughing during the tough times and we've kept each other informed of ways to minimize the discomfort that occurs after surgery and during chemotherapy.

I also stayed true to myself, and never let the cancer take away my optimism!
