I discovered I had breast cancer when I was 41 during my first mammogram. Both my mother and my grandmother had breast cancer, so I was aware of the disease. My treatment consisted of a needle biopsy which confirmed it was malignant and then two lumpectomies and radiation.

Go in and don’t delay!

Through my treatment and recovery, I didn’t have time to think or dwell on it. They got me right in for treatment and there was no time to worry- just getting it done. This experience made me realize life is short and to live life to the fullest. We go on lots of vacations! Today I feel great! The 'words of wisdom' I have for other women facing this disease is that the most important thing is early detection. Go in and don’t delay!
