DEBORAH C.
Betty Crocker

My name is Deborah Christie. I am a breast cancer survivor. My cancer was found in March of 2000. I was 47 years old at the time. I also had a six-year-old daughter, which made the cancer a little more scary for me. I didn’t want my daughter to grow up without a mother. My husband and family were at my side through the entire process.

I was very lucky that the doctors were able to just remove the lump. However, the lump was so big that I had to go through the entire treatment of chemo and radiation. The radiation was not too bad, but the chemo made me very sick.

During my treatment, of course, I lost all my hair and looked very drained and drawn. At this time, I was so touched by the concern and worry I got from my co-workers. Also, I was amazed and surprised to see the concern I received from the great customers who stopped to ask how I was doing and said they were praying for me. I believe that all the prayers are what made me well. All the concern from everyone is what got me through the treatment. Thanks to all of those co-workers and customers! I am now seven years out and doing fine!
