It was a routine mammogram, my second ever, when they discovered the calcification – an early sign of cancer. There wasn’t even a lump. With no history of breast cancer in my family, I was shocked. But it was there just the same.

Going through this was like riding a roller coaster of fear, happiness, and fear again. I often wanted to cry…and did. But I looked forward, stayed positive, and received amazing support from my friends, family, and supervisors at Kroger.

I take better care of myself now, exercising, eating right, and sleeping more.

The early detection was a lifesaver. I can only hope that with my story, women, who are so often the caregivers, will be sure to take care of themselves.
